SAN Fabrics consist of one or more interconnected SAN switches. Servers and storage units are connected to the fabric via SAN switches to form a SAN. Storage units connected to different SAN switches can access all data in the network via inter-switch links (ISLs). Necessary routing is handled by the SAN switches.
